A personalised poem

Some things are difficult to say in your own words. This is a poem written for one person and one moment, from what you tell me about them.

People come to me when someone has been born, or married, or lost. When somebody is leaving, or retiring, or turning eighty. And often for no occasion at all — just because there is someone who needs telling that they are seen and that they are loved.

Four steps, and most of it is you talking

Tell me about them

Who they are, what has happened, and what you would say if the words came easily. A WhatsApp message or an email is plenty.

I write it

Usually within a week, sooner if there is a date to meet. You will hear from me if I need to ask anything.

You read it

If a line is not right, say so. Changes are part of it, not an inconvenience.

It comes to you

As a card to give, or laid out ready to frame, or simply as words to read aloud on the day.

Occasions, and everything in between

For an occasion

  • A birth, a christening or a naming
  • A wedding, an engagement or an anniversary
  • A funeral, a memorial or the first year after
  • A birthday, a retirement or a leaving

Just because

  • Someone going through something hard
  • A thank you that a card cannot hold
  • An apology that needs more than a text
  • Someone who has never been told

Two honest things

Prices depend on what it is. A short card and a long poem for a funeral are different pieces of work. Tell me what you need and I will tell you the cost before anything starts. There is never a charge for asking.

My poems come from faith. That is where they start and it will usually show. If that is not what you want for the person receiving it, say so when you get in touch and I will tell you honestly whether I am the right person to write it.

Tell me who it is for

WhatsApp is the quickest way to reach me, but ring or email if you would rather.
